My August Adventures: Festival Fun!

We all know that the very few weeks of summer are amazing, allowing us to rest well and get ready for the oncoming school year, however, I often find myself not being able to find anything to keep occupied with. Therefore, I take precautions early on! I suggest for everyone to do that so that you don't find yourself in bed crying over Ezra and Aria's break up in Pretty Little Liars with popcorn all over me. True story.  As much as I want this to be about Pretty Little Liars, it will probably take me a few days to write and I will have a couple of melt downs.

However, this blog post is not about Pretty Little Liars, but about my first festival experience. As some of you may know, throughout the months of May, June, July and August, there are various festivals going on in England such as Reading and V-Festival. I was lucky enough to get tickets to go to a festival, which I was so excited even about 5 months before the actual day. You can probably imagine how excited I was on the day, I was shaking.

Later, we found out that the it was going to be taking place on my birthday, which I loved! I managed to see about 10 different artists over the course of the 2 days (Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August) including Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding and Olly Murs. What I loved even more is that I got to go with three of the most amazing people I have ever met. Those three people made the time at my first festival even more special and amazing. We laughed, talked, danced and just had pure festival fun!

Here are some photos I took from the festival!

Oh, I love you Sam Smith!

Having been accepted in my university, having been to an amazing festival with my best friends, and spending my birthday there has proven to be the best summer I could ever have wished for!

Here are my top 5 tips for newbie festival goers!

1) Bring deodorant, hand sanitiser and tissues!

Most of you probably already know this, but festivals that tend to be in the summer mean there will be lots of sweaty people around you and you will be sweaty as well. It is always a good idea to make sure that you smell somewhat nice, since you don't want to be the one that others avoid.

I learned to bring these items the hard way, since I got an unknown substance thrown all over me when I was in the crowd. Of course, I automatically went into panic mode, and began looking for tissues and something that would take the substance off of me. It was horrific, but one of my friends that I was with (the organised one) was nice enough to give me one of her tissues, her hand santiser and deodorant so that the freak in me would calm down.

The second day I was prepared, and felt much more at peace knowing that unknown substances won't have to stay on me very long.

*I'm getting weird images in my head of me in a Ghost-busters-like suit or covered in cling film, but don't worry, I'm not that crazy*

2) Bring a water bottle and drink LOTS of water!

The festival that I went to didn't permit for any kind of substances to be brought in, (you were only allowed to purchase alcohol inside...) so it's a good idea to bring an empty bottle with you.

There will be water filling stations scattered around, which means you can always fill your bottle up, but I found it really useful since you will be singing and screaming a lot!

Also, look at what the weather is going to be like, and if it's going to be warm, make sure you stay hydrated. The last thing you want is to have to give up your front line place just so you can go and get a drink- be prepared and have one ready.

3) Charge your phone fully and make sure there is enough storage space for photos and videos.

I cannot exaggerate how much I hate having no space to record a video of my favourite artist perfomrming my favourite song. So, before going anywhere, make sure to delete any unwanted apps, put all your previous photos on your computer and make sure you have as much space as possible.

When at festivals, you may find yourselves lost, since there are so many people, it is really easy to get lost. Learning from past mistakes, I made sure that I had all of my friend's phone numbers saved in my phone in case of an emergency.

4) Bring change with you.

Festivals allow you to purchase a lot of things, from food to beer to t-shirts. However, if you want to use the toilet, make sure you have change. I know for sure that the normal toilets are pathetically dirty, however some charities allow you to use a toilet which they have cleaned and which has toilet paper and hand sanitiser for a simple £1 donation.

5) Sunglasses!!!

Although this may not apply to every festival, it was very important for me to wear sunglasses since the sun was out most of the time during the performances.
